WEAU’s On The Money July 27, 2009 show discussed how some do-it-yourselfers are saving money by ’sewing’ it alone.
They talked about how -specially in these rough times- people are trying to save money by doing some sewing themselves. To be honest with you I agree when they say that you won’t save money if you make your own clothes but savings can be pretty substantial if you choose to do the sewing when decorating and reupholstering your items.
I did it. Someone gave me a patio set that had an awful print and I went to Walmart and purchased 1 yard of fabric for like $3.00 and I re-upholstered those 2 chairs. They look great. And it only cost me $3.00. It is not difficult at all. When in doubt, just search online foe “re-upholstering instructions” or tutorials or tips. eHow usually has tons of useful information.
